Event Information:
The BBC's Songs of Praise show held its annual School Choirs of the Year 2011 competition finals at Sheffield City Hall, attracting a live audience of over 1,000 people in the prestigious Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall.
Why Sheffield City Hall?
The Songs of Praise organisers chose Sheffield City Hall for the event due to its impressive and grand looking auditorium which lent itself to such a prestigious competition. The size of the hall was ideal for the event and it matched the organisers' budget.
Were there any challenges?
Lack of on-site parking and filling the venue for the event.
How did the venue respond?
The venue organised special parking by the side of the venue for our trucks and vans. For unit cars, the existing deal the venue has with NCP meant savings were passed onto us. Regarding attracting the audience, the venue's marketing department promoted the event via their mailing list and put a notice up at the box office.
Were there any highlights?
"From the moment we arrived the venue staff could not have been more helpful or welcoming. This allowed for good working relationships over the weekend." - Event's Production Coordinator
